Paper bill appeals

Pinnacol prefers online appeals through the Provider Portal Bill Search tab. Paper appeals must include the original or corrected bill, the written notice or EOB, a statement of the contested items and supporting documentation. Under Colorado Rule 16 the provider has 60 days to respond to a notice to contest. Do not resubmit a duplicate bill. Workers' compensation: a claim number and the adjuster or injured-worker identification are usually required; coverage is determined by the claim (not by a member ID), and state fee schedules and rules govern billing.
